- Description: Explore the Foxlee Track – Bullocky Tom’s Track circuit, a rewarding two-day North Queensland bushwalk through rainforest ridges, rocky cairns, and Johnstone’s Clearing. This 1984 variation offers scenic alternatives to classic routes like Bambaroo Track and Waterfall Creek in Paluma Range.

FOXLEE TRACK — BULLOCKY TOM'S TRACK

① June 30 / July 1 1984 four Bushwalkers
made the very pleasant trip up Foxlee's Track

- down Bullocky Tom's Track — this was a
very interesting variation of the normal "Lown"
Foxlee's Track route. Party was
John Hunter, John Charlesworth, T.A. + myself.

② The bottom starting point in Bullocky
Tom's Ck is difficult to describe.
Perhaps the best guide would be — take
the road right through the property + to the
entrance and almost into the Gorge
proper. We started a small distance into
the Bullocky Tom's Ck Gorge.
Use the Palmuna 50,000-1 map &
compass.

③ We struck the track proper approx
500 feet from the top of the Mt Leach
ridge + in the thick rainforest. In
fact the track does not exist in the
drier country lower down Mt Leach.

x1 = approx 50 yds.
indistinct track along the
very edge of the scarp.
to obvious drop-off point.

x2 = approx 40 yds along the now more definite brush track established by (I think) Father Percy Lyons approx 1985\. This track veers into the more broad centre of the ridge running

⑤ I am hoping that the new
ROCK CAIRNS will now make the
top starting point of Foxlee's
Track very easy to find.
In the last few years this
important starting point has proven
very difficult to locate largely
because of the heavily brushed
track (+ clearly not the original
Foxlee's Track totally) pushed through
to the top of MT Leech.

The relatively straight forward
Foxlee's Track route should now
be easy to use.

⑥ we camped at Johnstone's
Clearing.
The top Johnstone Clearing out to
the cars on the Intake road is
now little more than one half
day due to the reasonably heavy use
of the Bullocksy Town's Track.

⑦ Good two day trips on zone:-
up Bambaroo Track down Foxlee's Track
up Bambaroo Track down Bullocky Tom's Track
up Waterfall Ck down Foxlee's Track
up Waterfall Ck down Bullocky Tom's Track.
up Foxlee's Track " Bullocky Tom's Track

(Going down Bombaroo Track route is
rather difficult & more over-
exploracy required in this area).
