Eight walkers met at Alligator Creek on a cool, sunny Saturday morning for Molly's half-day Cockatoo Creek intro walk. The day was designed as a relaxed creek hop with a mix of on-track and off-track walking, and it proved to be a chatty, social, and educational morning out.
From Alligator Creek, the group made their way along the track towards Cockatoo Creek, then followed the creek upstream. There was no marked trail for much of the route, but the navigation was straightforward enough under Molly's leadership, with the group simply following the creek and later doubling back the same way. The walking was relatively easy overall, with only a few creek crossings where some walkers ended up with wet feet.

One of the highlights of the morning was Molly's knowledge of flora and fauna. The group stopped several times along the way for short nature talks, with Molly sharing observations and information about the surrounding environment. These stops added a lovely educational element to the walk and gave everyone time to enjoy the creek, chat, and take in the small details along the route.
There were rest stops along the way, including a longer break at the turnaround point before the group retraced their steps back towards Alligator Creek. Wildlife sightings included spiders and lizards, and the relaxed pace gave everyone plenty of time to look around and enjoy the creek environment.
A memorable moment came when the group realised that none of them was entirely sure where they were, except for Molly, who had everything under control. Thankfully, with Molly leading the way, the group stayed on route and enjoyed the adventure without any issues.
At the end of the walk, three of the eight walkers finished the morning with a swim at Alligator Creek, which made for a refreshing end to the outing. There were no major hazards, no leeches, no wait-a-while, no Gympie Gympie, no strong creek flow, and no real navigation dramas beyond the usual off-track uncertainty.
A big thank you to Molly for leading the walk and for making it such an interesting and welcoming outing for both regular walkers and new members.
