• The Trail: It is approximately a 5km return walk, taking about 1 to 3 hours depending on your pace. The team classifies this as a Grade 4 walk because the trail is not well-formed. Navigation skills are essential, and walkers are encouraged to follow the creek.
• Practical Tip: Before you go, head to Wanderstories to download the map. It is the best resource for ensuring you stay on track.
• Enjoy the View: Once you arrive, there are plenty of beautiful pools for swimming and ideal spots for a picnic.

Pair Your Trip with Mount Fox

Since it is a bit of a drive from Townsville, the team suggests making the most of your trip by combining your hike with a visit to Mount Fox.

Mount Fox is an ancient volcanic crater and a sight to behold. While it is a steep hike to reach the rim, it is shorter than the one to Townsville's own Castle Hill. The view looking down into the crater is spectacular, and you might even spot local kangaroos grazing near the top.

If you want to stay overnight, there is an official National Parks campground located at the base of the hill.
