Mt Elliott hike (1966). This unofficial bushwalk explored rainforest slopes and rocky outcrops with sweeping 360° views. Offering rich botanical interest and stunning scenery near Alligator Creek Falls, Mt Elliott remains one of North Queensland’s most rewarding hiking destinations.

Participants
Louis Dauwens, Peter Heimann.
Route
as per sketch

Point "A" is 100-200 feet below the highest point. 2 large rocks just above the rainforest and allow a 360° view to be had. There does not appear to be a view available from the summit of Mt Elliott itself.
Timing

Conclusions
Good views on route, and from the top. Interesting botanically, particularly in section BC. For an official club trip it would be better occupying a whole weekend, perhaps camping at the top of Alligator Ck Falls. Fine country - well worth the effort.
