May Walks 2022

Hello Everyone,With this fantastic weather, it would really be a shame to miss a single weekend and the legends who lead walks in the TBWC think so too
So, the rest the weekends in May have some real hiking treats in store.Now don't forget that Wilfred is leading a hike to Paradise beach and Castle Rock this weekend [Sunday, the 15th of May]. There are still some spots on the hike, so if you are keen, please let us know. The details for this have already been emailed out, but feel free to contact me anytime, if you wanted me to resend the description of this hike. Next Few Hikes:
Saturday, 21st May - one day walk - Lower Little Crystal Creek Falls
Leader: Luen Warneke
Description: The walk is steep, off-track, and uneven underfoot.
The hike starts by steeply descending into the Little Crystal Valley through bushland. Once we reach the creek, we will enjoy a scenic waterfall and swim in the large pool at its base. The return hike out will get your heart beating and make you sweaty.
Type of walk: Half-day hike, cross country over rough terrain. Boulder scrambles, uneven footing, slippery rocks, steep climbs. A great experience for those who are fit and are just getting into bushwalking.

Cost: non-members $5 fee.
What you need:
carry water (minimum 2 lt), refill from creek as required (treat / filter your water refill) . Lunch, snacks / energy food, electrolytes, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, enclosed sturdy footwear. Recommend long sleeve clothing / gaiters to avoid scratches. Some members also wear fingerless gloves.
Timing and meet – Meet 06:30 at Deeragun BP and can car pool from there
Estimated Completion: back at cars around 11 pm.
Group size: Group size limited to 12 people. The walk leader reserves the right to refuse permission to join the walk if they think it would be unsuitable for you. We would rate this walk as an easy to medium half-day walk

Saturday, 28th May - one day walk - Terraces /High Camp
Leader: Ian Wallace
Description:
A club classic walk, up Palm Creek (St Margaret's Creek system) to the Terraces, Ultima Falls, Garden Wall, and High Camp.
A creek-based walk with many waterfalls, one of the most scenic creeks in the region (and the state) and one of the local gems.
The club had been bushwalking St Margaret's Creek system since 1966 ! Pioneers of the great local bushwalks that bushwalkers enjoy today.
Type of walk:
Full day hike, creek based and cross country, rough terrain. Rock hopping, boulder scrambles, rockface traverses, scrub and vines, uneven footing, slippery rocks, steep climbs. On way out, includes a stop at the at the Rockslides for a swim, then the walk back to the cars. And most important, ice creams at the roadhouse on the way home to finish the day off. A good day out for our adventurous bushwalkers.
