We ran a special trip to The Terraces and High Camp for the staff of DakTech, one of the Club's valued sponsors. DakTech hosts and supports the Club's website and emails, and regularly helps us out with IT issues, so this walk was organised as a small thank-you for their ongoing support.
The group started from private property and walked towards the start of St Margaret Creek. From there, we followed the track towards Princess Pools, enjoying the familiar approach into one of the Club's classic Palm Creek walking areas. After reaching Princess Pools, we contoured up, over, and around the ridge to reach The Terraces creek.

Once in the creek, we followed the watercourse upstream, taking the overflow line towards the base of The Terraces. This section was straightforward walking on the day, with the creek providing a scenic and enjoyable approach to the main waterfall area. From the base, the group climbed up onto The Terraces, where we stopped for a quick break and took in the setting.

Cherry decided to wait at The Terraces while the rest of the group continued further upstream. The remaining walkers pushed on past the next few waterfalls, scrambling and rock hopping their way higher up the creek towards High Camp. As always, The Terraces delivered plenty of variety, with waterfalls, smooth granite, pools, creek travel, and a few steeper sections along the way.

High Camp was the high point of the walk, both literally and figuratively. After the climb up the creek, it was a great place to pause and appreciate the scale of the landscape, the granite formations, and the effort required to reach this remote part of the area.
The group then returned the same way, carefully descending back through The Terraces creek and across to Princess Pools before following the track out to the private property access. Unlike some previous trips, there was no detour to the Rockslides this time - everyone was well and truly tired enough after reaching High Camp.

It was a rewarding day out and a great opportunity to share one of the Club's favourite off-track walks with DakTech. A big thank you to the DakTech team for everything they do behind the scenes to support the Townsville Bushwalking Club, and thanks also to the property owners for allowing access for the walk.
