Thorntons Peak (4500') Easter 1972
Thorntons Peak (1370 m) Easter 1972: a challenging rainforest climb near Alexandra Bay with tangled tracks, stunted upper forest, and sweeping 360° summit views—among the best in North Queensland. A classic bushwalk to one of the region’s highest and most rewarding peaks.

① - ② Rainforest
③ + ④ Rainforest between cleared patches
⑤ upwards - Rainforest.
Upper part of mountain is clothed in thick, stunted rainforest - ∴ politic to find the cut track referred to. Mountain is of particular view from top is 360º & one of finest in N.Q. Thoroughly recommended.
N.B. The adjacent coast (Alexandria Bay) is also beautiful

Corrections to route on Thornton's Peak
Start of recommended road is approx. 1 Km along road to Alexandra Bay. Hut does not now exist. Fence xxxx is not there. A second road turns off and continues S.W. for at least 2 km. after where 'fence' is marked on diagram. Many cattle trails through savannah, which cease at edge of rain-forest - no road at all into bush along entire side of range. Suggest that since Easter 1972, bush has overgrown and cattle have stamped out any evidence of road or track.
