Our camp was either cold and wet, and good, we are poor, but the "Kennedy Caves" still un-disturbed in their secret hideaway.
This time we followed Mr. Watkins' map, but although we found the large clearing at 865085 (KIRRAMA 1-mile), we found neither the log bridge mentioned nor the old timber track.
From the clearing, we walked up the creek (Boggy Camp Creek), figuring this would be the best way of finding the bridge. Although we followed it well into the foothills of the Cardwell Range, we found no bridge, nor fences, nor old tracks. We camped just when dark, on the creek, on Sat. night.
On Sunday morning, we thought we detected a faint old track but after following it for some two hours, decided it was not it, and returned down the ridge to the creek. (Her next efforts?)
There was a very thick layer of the large Langeri cane just downstream of the clearing. Also near many Cardwell Lilies.
On the way home we met a Mr. Hamilton, who gave us a new start on the old mystery, telling us there is a fork in the Creek up from the mouth, and that we took the wrong one. We feel much better now about the question became a thorny
section of the creek.
Pat gave us a little party a start on the way down makes the road in the cane paddocks with Lad Vck. But all was well.
Then there is a greater possibility we will find the caves but is a surmise how planted orange trees & some of us carrying the gear for some expedition in the 'Second Fall' for Kennedy Caves.
