K-Traverse & Forgotten Falls - Trip Report
Forgotten Falls via the historic K-Traverse made for a classic Paluma rainforest walk, with misty drizzle, cool weather, leeches, creek crossings, rocky scrambling, swims, waterfalls, and great company.

Paluma turned on the atmosphere for us this weekend, greeting our group with a misty Paluma drizzle and a brisk 17 degrees, prompting most North Queenslanders to dig for the jersey tucked in their backpacks.
After the usual car shuffle logistics, our cheerful group of 10 intrepid walkers set off along the historic K-Traverse under light drizzle and cool rainforest air. Despite the damp start, the temperature quickly proved ideal for walking, especially once we settled into the rhythm of the old logging road winding through the rainforest.

The rainforest was alive, lush, and very enthusiastic about sharing its local wildlife with us… particularly the leeches. They were fierce and persistent. No one escaped unscathed.
We paused briefly at William Creek, which sparked plenty of discussion about returning soon to properly explore the creek system itself. Safe to say a future adventure may already be brewing along this creek line in the next few weeks.
From there, we continued on toward Forgotten Falls, and what a reward it was! The falls were flowing beautifully, with the sun making a perfectly timed appearance just as we arrived.

The group tackled the rocky sections and scrambled well, enjoying swims, snacks, photos, and a well-earned rest before beginning the return journey.
It was one of those classic Paluma days: muddy boots, misty views, leeches, waterfalls, laughter, and good company. A small group of 10 made for a relaxed and enjoyable pace, which, as many TBWC walk leaders will quietly admit, is exactly how we like it.

Thanks to everyone who came along and embraced the cold, the drizzle, and the leeches. Forgotten Falls certainly lived up to its name, although after this walk, it may not stay forgotten for long.
