Bushwalking Waterfall Creek, Paluma Range: rock hopping, cascades, orchids, and stunning views across Ingham and Hinchinbrook. A challenging hike with waterfalls, pools, and rugged rainforest adventure near Townsville.
Townsville Bushwalking Club’s Cape Cleveland hike saw 11 walkers tackle strong winds, ridgelines, Red Rock Bay, turtles near the lighthouse, and a scenic inland ridge traverse before finishing with ice creams at the roadhouse.
Ten walkers tackled Waterview Creek to the legendary Black Hole above Jourama Falls. The hike featured steep climbs, pandanus scrambles, giant figs, snakes, waterfalls, and a freezing swim in the deep pool.

Ten “mad” bushwalkers braved rain, slippery boulders, stinging trees, vines and steep climbs to reach Cockatoo Rock. A tough day of scrub bashing, wet rock hopping, cuts and bruises was rewarded with swims, views, teamwork, and the classic roadhouse ice cream finish.

Aussie Ten Peaks in the Snowies: 130 km/h gusts, –5.5 °C, zero visibility and a ‘shortcut’ that maybe wasn’t. Seven summits on day one, two in a gale on day two, and a blown-off finale. Brutal, hilarious, unforgettable—definitely not a circle. Probably.
Mt Bowen (1,121 m) on Hinchinbrook Island: a tough four-day adventure of rock-hopping, steep climbs, and a “shortcut” gone wrong. Stunning summit views, camp under the stars, creek scrambles, wildlife encounters, and classic mishaps made this a true bucket-list bushwalking challenge.
A three-day island adventure with the club on Pelorus Island, featuring camping on the coral beach, rainforest traverses, summit walks, snorkelling reefs, oysters at low tide, and stunning coastal views. Rugged, remote, and unforgettable.
An exploratory bushwalk to the base of Crystal Creek Falls near Paluma revealed rugged jungle, slippery creek scrambling, cliffs, and hidden gorges. A tough but rewarding adventure with unfinished business for future trips.
